NONVIOLENCE – THE STRONGEST WEAPON

A Spirit World Message.

When you plant a rose seed, you expect the seed to rise from the soil and become exactly that flower on earth. When you plant a potato, you expect it to find its nutrition under your feet; you expect the nature itself to bring you more nutrition for life. My friend, what you plant will meet your expectations because it is of nature’s law, brought to life by the Almighty Spirit.

Then, I will ask you this question: What do you expect when you plant a seed of love in your life? Based on the laws of nature I started out with, the rose and the potato, it will turn into more love. That is according to reason and logic, the intelligence that we have been given, that we were born with. When you plant a seed of violence, it will turn up with more violence. That is why nonviolence is the strongest weapon because everything is based on nature’s law, based on God’s principle, the law of cause and effect in this universe, in the material world as well as in the spirit world.

Mahatma Gandhi knew this principle, the spiritual truth of life, as he pursued the fight against the British rulers of India, and it resolved into a democratic society. He rejected violence based on the spiritual truth of life that what you sow you reap; when you sow love, you will reap love, when you sow violence, you will reap violence.

“I Have a Dream”, Martin Luther King Jr. once said, a dream, which he also found in the spiritual principle of love, to release African Americans from racism. I myself could at first not perceive the truth because I was blindfolded by the oppression and the violence taking place before my eyes. I got lost when I pursued an armed struggle against apartheid, against the South African government at that time. I know better now. I saw that, through reconciliation and talks, we could have achieved so much more at an earlier stage solely based on nonviolence. Civil disobedience, civil resistance, nonviolent demonstrations and protests, the tremendous effect of going slow, the magnitude of people’s will, cannot be stopped. It will always prevail.

When there is oppression, when there is cruelty and violence initiated by leaders of politics, the power of the people, a unified power of nonviolence based on civil resistance, can defeat the political leadership. Your creativity and your imagination have such tremendous strength and value when you have nonviolence, the truth of love within your heart, because that is the path of God, who put the principle of nature, the law of cause and effect, into operation. The rose seed cannot become anything other than a rose. One potato will become many potatoes. These are simple terms, but it is the truth of life, for you all to understand, that God has made a perfect law – when you sow love, you will reap exactly what you sowed, you will harvest love.

Many countries in your world have experienced that nonviolence is the path to freedom and peace. Countries that have turned to violence and turmoil have received bloodshed, suffering and instability. The consciousness of the world has a tremendous impact but it cannot change the laws of nature. Use your consciousness to bring equality, love and freedom for all people. Let your consciousness be to care; care for all the children of the earth plane. Share your wealth. You who have much can make a difference to the poverty and inequality that are present in many countries due to poor leadership.

There is so much wealth in your world that no one should need to go to bed hungry. It is all about sharing and bringing an equitable and dignified life for everyone. The selfishness of your world makes a cruel environment and conditions for many people who have nothing.

The United Nations can be the facilitator for human rights, for making a better world through a joint effort between countries where people can be brought to a higher level of understanding, the spiritual truth, the knowledge that there is no death, that we all survive the physical flesh. It is not a religious principle; all survive regardless of religion and become part of the spirit world. This knowledge was the fundament for Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. They knew the principle of life, the truth of life, the reality that there is no death. They knew that once they departed from the earth plane they would live on and look back on their traces on the earth plane. They knew that they would be filled with joy and love in their hearts when they followed the path of nonviolence, because love itself brings peace to the heart, brings peace of mind. Nonviolence will bring peace to earth. It is the only way, the only path based on God’s principle of the law of cause and effect.

Make a better world. Care, Share and Love, these are the fundamental principles of the spiritual truth. Employ nonviolence – the strongest weapon there is – to solve the conflicts of your world, to make a peaceful world. You can heal your world with love; it is the only path, God’s path.

The United Nations must take an unequivocal stand for human rights

A Spirit World Message.

I see a world in misery; I see a world with abhorrent acts against human rights in many places on the earth plane. Children were brought to the earth for a dignified life. They came with love from my world. They were brought to life by the seed of love from the Almighty Spirit.

You were given free will to explore this beautiful planet, its wonders. You were brought here as a child of God to attend to your family, to give a helping hand to your brothers and sisters, so you all could find joy in this reunion of your family on earth.

The earth plane, where you have all the passions of human nature, is a school of learning, there for you to master the passions you find between men and women in your social relationships. The free will that all children can employ in their lives is there for a purpose, is there to enhance you spiritually.

But in this world of yours, spirits of different spirituality attend the school: both undeveloped spirits and highly developed spirits. The United Nations is the mother and the father, the parents of the children of the earth. There are no national borders in the eyes of a good father and mother, a highly evolved spiritual unity of love. The United Nations and its council for human rights is the spiritual body that has responsibility for all children and their human rights, unequivocal human rights, rights that do not see the different traditional values of nationalities but see the world as a whole.

Every child has the right to a just and equitable life, has the right to care, to health and medical services. Every child has the right to freedom, the right to travel and to speak from the heart. All children have the right to live their lives as they wish as long as they do no harm to others. Their sexuality, their religion, their beliefs; these are rights for every child.

We all want a decent and good life. Every child has the right to a decent life on earth. The United Nations, as the parents of your world, must take a stand to eradicate the poverty, abuse and violence of individuals. The United Nations is responsible for ensuring that all children can achieve their human rights. Rights that can be fulfilled within one word, “love”. Love for all. Your obligation is to provide a just and equitable life and society, a universal society where love for every child is your responsibility. As the United Nations, the body of love and peace, you must see every child as your own, and yourselves as the mother and father of the children of the earth.

After the Sharpeville massacre in South Africa, the United Nations took a stand to prohibit such a racial system. But it took three decades before it became a free democratic society for all. Let that remind you that people and children are suffering each day. Expose and speak out loud about the abuse, the violence, and the deprivation of every child in every country. It is through communication, through opening up the wound, that people realise the conditions in your world. Speak up for every child who lives in poverty, who does not have the necessities of life. Speak up for the children who are misused, who are deprived of human rights. That is your responsibility as the parents of your world, the United Nations, the body of love and peace for the world.

I deeply regret the armed struggle

A Spirit World Message.

A sorrowful remembrance, a sorrowful day. The shootings and killings in Sharpeville gave me deep sorrow within my heart. I had been told that the South African police force had slaughtered people attending a peaceful demonstration, a protest march that was brought into being due to the passport laws made by the oppressor, the South African Government, a legislation for the black people of South Africa to further increase segregation between whites and blacks. It was an inhuman legislation brought about by apartheid.

The ANC was a nonviolent organisation and pursued the dignity of all races. The ANC saw men and women of all races as equal. Equality and a dignified human life for all was our objective, and this formed the fundament and the heart of our organisation.

The Sharpeville massacre made me sorrowful and furious and even more determined to fight the apartheid regime. It was a human reaction, but I made a terrible mistake in fighting violence with violence. At that time I could no longer see the strength and the power of nonviolence, which had been broken by the South African government and its police force so many times. The apartheid regime turned the black population into secondclass citizens with no rights, no human rights and no human dignity. The oppressor brought to life the wrath of human nature.

My friend, you who read these lines, you should know that I would never embark on such an armed struggle today, even though in our lenient behaviour we still sought to carry out sabotage on targets of the material kind. There is always a potential and possibility for the loss of lives. We in the MK were of the opinion at that time that guerrilla warfare was an option that we would pursue if sabotage gave no results. I, as the commander in chief, was instrumental in bringing such thoughts of response to the oppression of the South African government.

When I look upon these thoughts from this side of life, thoughts of hatred for the system of apartheid, thoughts of retaliation, of making our freedom a reality, I realise I did not see the consequences, the loss of lives of many men, women and children. I have another view now as a spirit where my physical flesh has turned to dust. I see from this side of life that nonviolence is the only path towards freedom, because nonviolence is love for your neighbour and also your enemies, the oppressor.

I spent 27 years in prison. This was a waste of time that I could have used for a nonviolent life in the ANC organisation. The ANC committee was against the armed struggle and the establishment of the MK as an armed wing of the ANC. I was warned by Chief Albert Luthuli and Moses Konane and others about the consequences, but I was deaf. I would not listen to the speeches of nonviolence when the oppressor used violence against peaceful demonstrations.

I see now that sanctions by the international community bear more fruit, have much more strength, than guerrilla warfare, than the armed struggle ever could have accomplished itself, because the international community became aware and saw that apartheid was inhuman and an extreme violation of human rights. The consciousness of the world knew better. It realised the antagonism of the apartheid system, of dictatorship and inhuman systems that suppress basic human rights.

Mahatma Gandhi used nonviolence in his struggle against colonialism, against the British rule of India, for the freedom of his people. Martin Luther King Jr. and Chief Albert Luthuli embraced the same nonviolent principle in their fight for freedom.

In my late days on the earth plane, in my physical flesh, I looked back upon my life. I realised that I had made a great mistake in life by using force, by entering into the path of guerrilla warfare. I truly apologize to all the men, women and children that I made suffer due to my ignorance of good advice from nonviolent predecessors.

I urge all of you who are oppressed to use the pathway of God, the nonviolent pathway, the pathway of love for your brothers and sisters, your family on the earth plane.

My earthly life

A Spirit World Message.

When I gaze upon the earth plane, the beautiful planet, from outer space, I see a wonderful creation in this universe. It is a magnificent sight that you all can experience due to your technological advancement. Enjoy this view with me right now.

The sun is shining upon the blue ocean, shining upon the lands, the rivers, the mountains, the valleys, the cities. I see no borders, no nationalities; I see one people, one land.

When I gaze upon your globe from this side of life, I perceive your world from outer space, until I move myself to the land where I was born. I am being drawn to my family, to the people who are close and dear to me, as a family should be. I am with my thoughts and my mind in the place that is called Qunu, where my mother raised me in my early childhood. It was a playground, a beautiful place on earth where I felt the security and safety provided by my mother and relatives, where I felt in harmony with nature, in harmony with myself. We used to play the native sport with sticks that I recall as a struggle at that time, but also as a joy, because it was of a friendly character. We fought against neighbourhoods established in the tribes. I could master this sport and in the same run I learned the plight as child, the discipline and the friendship of my siblings.

I look back now to my youth where I learned from the elderly, where I became part of schooling, of learning, in this rural area. I learned about the differences between having wealth and being poor. I learned about the dogmas of religion. I learned about how to behave. Youth itself was a school of learning where the passions of the earth gave new challenges to appreciate. Challenges that raised you in character and morality, challenges that made you question life, question the system that we were living within, the system of authority and knowledge, of deprivation and wealth.

When I attended university in early adulthood, I took with me the culture of the tribe that I was born within, but very soon I came to comprehend the racism and segregation of that time. I saw a world of injustice, a world that was not fair. It was more to this world that I myself had been raised within.

In my adulthood as a lawyer, I certainly learned about segregation and about apartheid, together with friends I truly loved for their friendship, my companions Oliver Tambo and Walter Sisulu. We were acquainted in such a manner that we felt we were as one in our struggle for liberty, for justice. I truly apologize to my first wife, Evelyn, and my children, Madiba, Makaziwe, Magkatho and Pumla for not being there for them. I apologize with my whole heart for not taking care of my family as I should have done. I was much too engaged with my work, with my own mind. That caused an end to my first marriage. Soon after, I met Winnie, who had the same perspective of the freedom struggle as I had. We were both brought to prison for violations against apartheid.

The ANC became a part of me to such a degree that I became the ANC myself. The massacres of people by the apartheid regime made me lose sight of nonviolence in the pursuit of liberation. Even though the ANC committee and Chief Lutuli warned me about the armed struggle, warned me about establishing an armed wing, I did not listen. I was lost in my own mind. I deeply regret the armed struggle and establishing the MK to break down apartheid by force. I strongly regret the use of weapons and I truly apologize to all the families, the children, the women, the men that I made suffer. Nonviolence is the most powerful weapon. The armed struggle sent me to lifetime imprisonment. I truly apologize to Winnie and my daughters Zenawi and Zindzi for not being there for them all those years. Surely all this time that was a waste could have been used for imaginative and creative solutions in a pattern of nonviolence.

That is how I see my earthly life, when I, here, watch this beautiful blue planet from outer space, a creation by the Almighty Spirit brought into being by his love, his love for all. Nonviolence is love, love for your neighbours, love for all people, even for people that oppress you, that are blindfolded, that don´t see the consequences of their own behaviour. Even after 27 years’ imprisonment, I didn´t see that nonviolence was the only true path for the ANC. I had to learn, I had to see all the suffering, all the killings, the death that armed struggle causes, and the misfortune it brings to so many people.

I changed my view in this respect when I was on earth, where I preached for reconciliation and peace not only for South Africa, but for the whole world. It took me a lifetime to see that nonviolence is the strongest weapon there is. Because that is the work of God, which is love, love for all, even your enemies.

When I gaze upon the earth plane, I hope that my contribution to this beautiful blue planet, the contribution I made in my later days, when I had been through all the passions of the earth plane, when I had learned by my own mistakes that reconciliation, love for each other and peace is the only true path to fulfil the creation given to mankind.

A new world comes into sight

A Spirit World Message.

My mind has brought me to a beautiful place on earth. My thoughts, my remembrance of my childhood, have brought me to Qunu. I can see my mother waiting for me there in the home where I used to live as a child. My mother embraces me, holds me in her arms. She says to me, “Oh my Rolihlahla, I have been waiting for you”. This place that I was so fond of gave me safety that embraced my spirit in full. As I am there being held by my mother, I once again feel the warmth of my earthly life. Once again I feel the goodness, the beauty that cared for me, that gave me life.

My upbringing as a child was in her hands and I had a wonderful thought of love melting us together as one, as we once were when alive on the earth plane. A new world came into sight: what I had used as a playground had become the most beautiful adventure. The remembrance of my home had been brought into a state of no decay, of such a beauty that tears ran down my cheeks. The grace of this place was of such colours that I could not at first believe it was true, because it was beyond my comprehension of earthly beauty. The green foliage, the loveliness of our home, similar to the home I had been raised within, had been refurbished into such brightness and in such a manner that it took my breath away.

My mother had gained her youth back; she said to me that there is no need to be an elderly woman on this side of life. Her beauty astonished me. Let me show you your new world, my child, she said to me. As we were walking in the old familiar places, we met friends and family members who had passed away a long time before I came. There is love between friends and families in the afterlife, friendship and kindness there is love among neighbours.

We came to a hillside and beyond this height I saw a vast city of such bright splendour, such beautiful colours, that I became astounded, it was an amazing sight. And when we walked towards that wonderful city I met my family and children who had left the earth. I embraced my son, Thembi, who had been killed in a car accident. I embraced my whole family. We shared a wonderful feeling of love, recollecting memories, sharing joy and also the sorrowful moments of the earthly life. Social gatherings in the afterlife are not very different from on earth where you come together as friends sharing pleasure and delight. This new world, this new city that I have now approached, that I am walking into, is of graceful elegance and great brightness. There are vast buildings of different structures integrated with nature itself. I am walking with my mother, she is doing the sightseeing, and we are holding hands whilst we are walking in this divine land, incomprehensible to the earthly mind. People that are here around us are cheerful, bright and have an angelic aura.

We enter a park with a mighty fountain surrounded by freshscented lawns, trees and meadows of heavenly flowers in a variety of colours. The sweet and refreshing scent, I recall from earth. This mighty fountain is placed in the centre. It seems like water streaming up and being poured out with a tremendous warmheartedness, an atmosphere of what I can only describe as love. My mother tells me that it is the ‘Fountain of Love’ where spirits of higher spheres come and bring knowledge because there are different spheres of life, different vibrations where people live according to their spirituality. She tells me that this world that I am now part of has a vibration according to my spirituality, the moral and ethical standard that I achieved on the earth plane. She tells me that there are lower spheres where souls of lower development, of lower spirituality, live, people who were cruel, selfish and malicious on earth and that they now abide where their minds are in accordance with their environment. However, there is help and advancement for all souls.

At this time, just a day after I left the earth plane, I feel the need to contemplate. I feel the need to find oneness with my Creator. We sit down in the grass next to the fountain and a beautiful scent from the flowers fills my heart with memories. I sense the love that I had for my fellow beings. It gives me strength, gives me power, the power of love within me. I feel the presence of God in my whole being. Such a wonderful feeling, such a wonderful love, that I receive in this oneness of God.

A new world dawned for my eyes this morning, a paradise, and the heaven that I have found within myself, the heaven of love. That is where I am at this very moment.
